Instead of promising perfectly functional gear, we've left an element of "experimentation" for the
user—something feels just slightly incomplete, yet it’s clearly gear designed for a specific purpose.
Staying true to the early days of the UL style, it’s a one-of-a-kind waterproof jacket, sewn with cutting-edge materials.
The D.D Jacket, embodying the essence of Moonlightgear®.

An oversized design, true to UL principles.
It traps plenty of air inside the shell, reducing the temperature difference with the outside world.
The oversized silhouette isn’t just a design choice—it’s a rational structure that maximizes functionality.
The L/XL size fits comfortably even on individuals over 180cm, offering a substantial, big silhouette.
Crafted as a universal piece, it’s designed to be worn by anyone, regardless of gender or height.

Details stripped down to pure simplicity.
Tighten the drawcord at the hem for warmth, loosen it for ventilation.
Minimal functionality designed to handle even the most technical environments, from strong
winds to snowy mountains.
Emphasizing a supple fit and easy maintenance, we’ve chosen a standard zipper over a
waterproof one.
To prevent rain from blowing in during strong winds, a placket was added beneath the zipper.

A lightweight 3-layer fabric at 50g/m²
offering waterproofness, breathability, durability, and lightness.
This is a material that leaves no room for compromise in any functional aspect, featuring a
waterproof rating of 20,000mm and a breathability of 40,000g/m²—truly one of the best
materials available today.
With its superior breathability, it excels not only as rainwear but also as an active outer layer
for your trips.

COLUMN
In October 2010, just three months after the establishment of Moonlight Gear, I had the privilege of hiking the Okuchichibu main ridge for four days and three nights with one of the legends of modern UL, Glen Van Peski, the founder of Gossamer Gear, who has long led the way in the UL scene.
The weather was harsh, with cold rain continuing throughout the tour, except for the first day.
While everyone on the tour was wearing a durable rain jacket, Glen’s shell was clearly different. It looked like a flimsy, lightweight raincoat, made of a delicate nonwoven fabric,
almost like a convenience store bought poncho with a little more refinement.
After hours of rain, the temperature difference between the inner shell and the outside air slowly caused moisture to build up inside. As the breathability of my shell declined, it began to trap heat, and if stagnant, it quickly turned cold.
This is something common to nearly every high-performance shell on the market.
What shocked me, though, was that Glen was almost completely dry.
The secret? "Air layers."
The air trapped inside his oversized rain shell softened the temperature difference with the outside air, preventing moisture buildup and cold.
Inspired by this shocking experience from over a decade ago, the D.D Jacket was born.
After countless prototypes and field tests, it took shape as the first product from
Moonlightgear®. With respect to the gear that inspired it (Glen’s Frogg Toggs DriDucks), the name D.D was chosen.
